Chocolate peanut butter cookies are simply irresistible for lots of people. But getting the right recipe is crucial: if this kind of cookie is not perfectly made, the disappointment will be great! I have always found chocolate and peanut butter to be the best combination possible. Whether you are making peanut butter chocolate cookies, or eating chocolate peanut butter cups, there is just nothing like it. I literally cannot allow myself to have chocolate candies in my house. I can’t control myself around them.

I feel like the tastes balance each other out somehow. It only works if the peanut butter has some salt added to it. I have always loved to cook chocolate recipes, and chocolate peanut butter cookies are my favorite. To me, however, they do not work if they use the processed peanut butter. You have to get the all-natural kind that separates and needs to be stirred. Otherwise, the chocolate and peanut butter cookies will not turn out right. They will taste slimy and artificial. They will not stand up to the tastes of a true chocolate peanut butter connoisseur like myself.

Of course, the one time that processed peanut butter works is in chocolate peanut butter cups. I am fairly certain that this is the artificial kind of peanut butter with the partially hydrogenated oils. I checked the package once, and I believe that is what it said. Still, nothing is better than chocolate peanut butter candies. I just can’t get enough of them.

I have always loved to cook chocolate peanut butter cookies for other people. Normally, I cannot cook them. I will eat them all, you see, so I have to have a special reason to get to make them. This is why I love when my daughter has her birthday. That way, I get to make a chocolate peanut butter cookies for all of her friends. Sometimes I will make chocolate peanut butter brownies too, but she thinks that is going too far.

Of course, last year I did not get to make anything. You see, there is a kid in her class with a peanut allergy. Just being around chocolate peanut butter cookies will kill him, or so they say. Needless to say, my daughter was very disappointed. None of the kids in her class got to eat any chocolate peanut butter cookies. Of course, I brought her some chocolate cake to school. It was pretty good, but I don’t think it was the same. Still, the birthday party was a hit. All the kids love to get to eat sweets in class.

Did you ever think about owning your own Gaggia espresso machine? I happen to own one of those cuties, and I can assure you that it makes waking up a lot more attractive. It looks a bit like Zen meditation: take your time to make that one (or two) perfect cup of delicious coffee. Followed by taking your time to taste and drink it up! Before sipping that next cup of coffee, you may want to ponder exactly what it is you’re drinking.

Oh but, coffee is just coffee, right? Not even close. There are all sorts of coffee beans, coming from all regions of the world. If you actually take the time to sample a few, you’ll definitely notice the difference. Since I had the privilege of living in four different states, and visiting plenty of others, I’ve learned a bit about java. There’s a method to the madness. And now I’ve come to the conclusion that acquiring my very own Gaggia espresso machine was a wise choice. When you make your own coffee, you make it right!

I’ll bet money that you’ve been to a few coffee houses that you simply didn’t care for. I imagine this is due to the fact that everyone and their dog are opening up a coffee dive. Hey, there’s no doubt it’s a booming industry, but come on people. Spare us the bitter aftertaste. Just because you picked up a fancy espresso machine and own a small business-like venue, doesn’t mean you know java. Real coffee is made with care.

Once I figured out the process, I bought a Gaggia espresso machine and mastered the technique at home. The purpose? Waking up to a great cup of joe every single morning. It all begins with your beans. This is the base of every great cup of coffee. Beans are roasted and bagged, and often vacuum-packed. What does all this mean? Well, it means they have a life-span once cooked to perfection.

If the beans are vacuum-packed, they can stay decent for up to three whole months. If they’re frozen, sometimes longer. However, if the freshly roasted coffee beans are bagged and sold, you’d better be ready to use them over the next two weeks. This is the time span you’ll have to enjoy great tasting java. Just be sure to grind each portion just before using. The flavor will leave your taste buds in perfect serenity.

Searching for a Gaggia espresso machine or any espresso machine for that matter is a cinch. Take a gander at the variety online or in your local William Sonoma store. You can acquire a decent espresso machine of your own for 300 bucks. It all depends on your taste, preferences and budget. One thing I do know for certain is that my Gaggia espresso machine has saved me oodles of cash and trips to the local coffee shops.

Many people feel really embarrassed when they get the wine list from the waiter. It doesn’t look very sophisticated if you really don’t know anything about wines and you have to choose wines that fit with your different dishes. If you want to confuse and embarrass me, put a wine list in front of me and tell me to choose something to go with my meal.

I don’t know why, but I am completely clueless. I have tried to learn some thing about wine, and I have many friends who have tried to teach me what they know. For some reason, I just don’t get it, or perhaps I don’t care. I guess wine is okay, but I haven’t really developed a taste for it like so many other people I know. They can pick up a wine list and know exactly what they want.

I can’t even tell you the difference between the different types of wine on a wine list. There are different types and they are grown in different areas of the world. I don’t understand any of it. I even live near a very popular wine area, and I still can’t seem to grasp any of it. I have considered going to a wine tasting, but I have never gotten that far. I’m not sure why I am so worried about it, because I always know I can just pass the wine list off on one of my friends to make the choice for me.

If you are stumped by a wine list like I am, you can learn. There are many great places to learn about wine, and perhaps you might want to try a wine tasting first. They give you different types of wines that you might find in many restaurants, and they explain what you are tasting and why it is called what it is.

There are different types, and what they are called depends on how they are made and sometimes, by what type of grape is used. That is about as far as my knowledge goes, but I’ve decided I really don’t care to learn. If you do, you can find great ways to know what you are talking about when asked to choose from a wine list.

If you know nothing about a wine list, and are presented with one, you can simply ask the waiter what they would recommend. In some high end restaurants, the wait staff will indeed know what they are talking about, and they can recommend something that will go with what you are going to have for dinner. It’s not an important skill in life, but if you do business over dinners quite often, you might feel like this is something you should know. After some time, you may decide you are just like me, and you really don’t care all that much.

Did you ever try Dunkin donuts coffee? I hope not, it was probably not one of those moments that you experienced true happiness. Making good coffee is not easy, and making damn good coffee is extraordinary difficult and requires some talent and taste… The American diet. When you hear those three little words, what comes to mind? For me it’s fast food for lunch, because everyone is in a big rush and convenience is all that matters.

For dinner it’s take-out from the Chinese place down the street or maybe a pizza from Domino’s. Oh, and then there’s breakfast. This consists of a jelly-filled Bizmark and an extra large cup of Dunkin Donuts coffee. Does that all sound about right to you? Wow; that’s a lot of fat! Certainly more than anyone’s daily recommended allowance. We Americans really have to do something about all the foul things we consume. It’s killing us!

So there I was, picking up my daughter from an orthodontist appointment. She had just had her braces tightened, and for some reason she still wanted junk food. She pointed out the Dunkin Donuts right next to the orthodontist. Now why would they put that place right next to a business that specializes in making teeth look great? Go figure. Naturally we had to go in and get a box of donut holes. So we did and I discovered Dunkin Donuts coffee in the process. I had never tried their specialty coffee drinks before, but they looked pretty darn sweet.

I believe it was some sort of mocha shake frapuccino thing I ordered. Then we were out the door. As I wrapped my lips around the straw, I didn’t give it much thought. But when the Dunkin Donuts coffee hit my mouth, I cringed. This stuff was like sludge. It was way too sugary and rich. I can’t believe some of the stuff they call coffee now days. I only tried it because my mother had told me that she likes Dunkin Donuts coffee, but I’m sure she was referring to plain old drip-pot brew. Not this new-age concoction.

It can be a challenge finding a great cup of java these days. In all honesty, I can’t recommend Dunkin Donuts coffee based on my single experience. Most caffeinated beverages I’ve tasted in my day are better than that one. So if you’re looking for a quick java fix, but don’t know where to go; let me make it simple for you. Just head through a Starbuck’s drive-thru. Let’s leave the coffee making to the coffee people.

Hot chocolate has always been the favorite hot drink when you come home out of the cold, humid weather outside. I still remember the evenings that I visited my grandmother and I was treated with a nice hot cup of coco… Imagine a cold winter evening. You’ve been at the hill sledding with your children all day or out on the slopes with your friends.

The fire is stoked, there’s some holiday music coming from the stereo, and the room is full of good cheer. The topper to this perfect evening? The person you’ve had your eye on comes and brings you a steaming mug of hot chocolate.

Hot chocolate is often connected to good memories. It makes us feel warm and cozy and safe. It plays a big part in some of our pasts. But the hot chocolate of yesterday is not necessarily the same hot beverage we drink today. Today, chocolate beverages come in a wide variety of flavors. You can find an array of gourmet selections to choose from that can add a special touch to any evening.

Hazelnut, Vanilla, or Irish Crème flavored hot chocolate are a great touch to any non-alcoholic adult evening. If you’re a coffee fan you might enjoy a hot mocha chocolate beverage. If you’re in the mood for something more traditional you might opt for a dark chocolate, milk chocolate, or white chocolate drink.

Hot chocolate can make a great gift idea as well. Combining several different flavors of single serve packets with a nice mug and a gourmet chocolate bar can make for an original gift that almost anyone can enjoy. Gifts like this aren’t just for Christmas either. They make thoughtful birthday gifts or original housewarming gifts or an excellent hostess present if you’ve been visiting with friends or family during your vacation.

If you don’t have time to find a place that sells original hot chocolate items or you live in a smaller community where these items simply aren’t available, you may want to consider looking online. The internet has something for everyone and shopping online is simpler than ever today. Online you’ll find every possible variety of hot chocolate that you can imagine.

When guests come over to visit, most people offer coffee or tea, but hot chocolate can make for a nice option to present to your guests. When people walk in your door and smell the scent of chocolate in the air, they’ll feel like they are back in grandma’s kitchen and what is more welcoming than that? Children will feel like they are part of the adult group when they can partake in their own chocolate beverage and it won’t keep them up all night. Everyone can be included in enjoying the warmth and comfort of a hot cup of chocolatey goodness at the end of a cold winter day.

The romance of a cup of coffee is undeniable, from its first exotic origins in Ethiopia to the shiny dark coffee bean to the rich aroma it releases into the air when ground. Yet the coffee goes through many steps between the plantation and your coffee-maker. The entire process is structured to an engineering science as complex as wine making to ensure high quality and good taste. Each coffee bean you buy has its own background that gives it a unique taste and aroma.

The taste of each bean and how acidic it is, as well as how harsh and pungent it is, are all manipulated by how it’s roasted. Each company producing coffee beans has a set of standards that it adheres to, making different brands unique from one another. In their laboratories scientists look at the size of the bean, how dry it is, the quality of the essential oils, and how much caffeine it contains. Common quality control requirements call for looking at overall characteristics as well as the various steps in readying the coffee for market.

The coffee bean is actually a seed whose gastronomic appeal has only been enjoyed for around 700 years. Most of the world’s coffee comes from the Arabica and Robusta varieties. Like good wine, good coffee depends on a range of conditions, such as climate, growth techniques, terrain, altitude, pest control, and harvesting measures. As a result, there is plenty of bad coffee out there. The finest coffees grow at high altitude, 4,000 to 6,000 feet above sea level. Coffee growers can choose varieties that work better than others in drought, disease, and pest-prone areas, or in colder climates, but these factors can all vary.

A coffee tree will typically grow 15 to 40 feet high, but to assist with the best production of “cherries”, the tree is kept pruned to a man’s height. Most good, healthy trees will yield a maximum of two hand-picked pounds of coffee a year (each tree). Because the seeds ripen at different rates they are best harvested by hand-picking. After the coffee cherries are harvested, the husk is given a chance to dry; then the next step involves removing the seed from dries along with the coffee seed. Another method involves fermenting the fruit and washing the fruit from the bean, instead of allowing it to dry with the bean. At this point, the coffee been is still green.

After drying, the coffee beans are carefully sorted. Quality control is very important at this stage because even a single “bad” bean can spoil the entire batch. Coffee beans are sorted in groups by size, density (dense beans have better flavor), and possible defects. Each batch is carefully evaluated for the essential qualities: sweetness, acidity, body, flavor, aftertaste, and so on. Once the beans have been selected, they are shipped to roasting plants and then packaged in a method that will prevent possible spoilage.

There are a variety of techniques used in roasting coffee beans. In part, the roasting process is dependent on the individual tastes of the coffee consumer. Many companies prefer to roast their beans to a dark-roasted standard, which is probably the most common type of coffee which connoisseurs argue, reduces much of the subtle and variations of flavor notes. Coffee taste will be dependent in part on the roasting process and the overall degree of acidity. Even with all these characteristics, the making and flavor of coffee remains in part art, mystery, and science.

The wine journey started in Caucasia or Mesopotamia around 6000bc. It was cultivated in Egypt and Phoenicia in about 3000bc. Wine could be found in Greece by 2000bc and by 1000bc wine could be found in Italy Spain and North Africa. In the next 500 years wine moved to Spain, Portugal and Southern France. The Romans finally brought wine to Britain when they invaded.

The Greeks industrialized the process of winemaking in Southern Italy and the Romans followed this model. The Romans were prodigious Makers and drinkers of wine and they took Wine and wine production to all corners of the Roman world. The technology available to the Romans looks very similar to that which is used today with wooden barrels to age the wine and glass bottles to store the wine.

There are stories of wine being drink when it was over 100 years old but most roman wine would have been drunk when young and roughly made according to vintage. When The Romans left France they had left most of the famous wine regions in France having cleared the land for wine cultivation.

Winemaking knowledge during the dark ages was stored by the church. With the coming of the Middle ages Rome who controlled the church wanted to improve Winemaking. Wine at the time had religious connotations as is was considered the blood of Christ The church encouraged its monasteries to aquire additional lands and cultivate larger vineyards. In only one place in Europe was their significant wine production outside the control of the church. This was in Bordeaux which at the time was linked to the English crown through marriage. They produced wine that was shipped to England once a year called vin nouveau.

Up to the start of the 17th century Wine was the only drink that was drunk by the masses as it could be stored. Other drinks such as beer went bad and water in cities wasn~t considered safe. Competitors to wine emerged as chocolate came from Central America, tea from China and clean water started to enter the cities. This wine industry had to develop new ideas. Glass technology improved making glass stronger and the cork and corkscrew were introduced around the same time. This meant that wine could be kept longer in these air tight bottles.

It was possible to age wines and give them their own individual bouquets which enabled the bottles to be sold at a higher price. Reserve wines were introduced around the 1660s which were carefully made and had a stronger alcohol content. In Champagne the Monk dom Perignon perfected a drink that the aristocracy would beg for, by accident when it was bottled it started to sparkle.

Wine bottle technology improved and the bottles ended up resembling those we have today. This enabled wine to be laid down and the wine stayed fresher for longer as the corks maintained a better seal as they were kept from drying out. The alcoholic strengths of wine were higher than those of today in the middle of the 18th century.

By 1880 the wine trade was booming and many countries economies were too reliant on wine production. This is when Phylloxera struck which caused most vines in Europe and the New World pulled up and it seemed like the end of wine.

Wine production re-emerged but on a more scientific basis with advances coming mainly from the New World where there were wine making traditions. Today we are spoiled for choice when we go to our Wine store.

An automatic coffee maker is nowadays part of every good quality kitchen, I suppose. Or am I just putting to much emphasis on the dark brown liquid? Maybe I shouldn’t drink as much as I do, but it doesn’t feel like harming me and I really like the stuff… The no doubt about it, absolutely must have, can’t live without it appliance for anyone in the modern world has to be the automatic coffee maker.

I have been an avid coffee drinker since before I could get a driver’s license. I am sure that some medical professionals would feel that I started way too early but I think it may give me a valuable perspective when it comes to coffee drinking. By this point, I think I should be viewed as an expert on the subject.

Having an automatic coffee maker in the house is a creature comfort that I cannot do without. I have had many coffee makers over the years but I recently upgraded and no one could get me to go back. Not knowing what else to give me or appreciating my addiction to the delicious coffee bean, my brother gave me a new automatic coffee maker for Christmas last year and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

The automatic coffee maker I received last year that has since become known as the best Christmas gift ever was made by Black and Decker. It looks like a mean machine with its stainless steel outer shell and black plastic body. It should look a bit intimidating because it can brew up a storm in a flash.

The Black and Decker automatic coffee maker comes with two travel mugs that fit perfectly so you can brew a new batch of coffee right into the mugs if you are in a hurry. The mugs come with lids and all you have to do is load the machine, place the lidded mugs under it, press the button and you are good to go.

Of course, it is an automatic coffee maker with an emphasis on “automatic.” This baby has a digital clock on the front display which is easy to set. You can program the coffee maker to brew at any hour and the pot is ready within ten minutes. I have to get up very early and have found it difficult to load a coffee maker with water and grounds without making a sleepy mess out of everything. With an automatic coffee maker you never have to worry about that again.

I highly recommend the Black and Decker automatic coffee maker. I think that it makes a great Christmas gift or anytime gift. It may be the very thing you’ve needed around the house and could be a great gift to buy yourself the next time you are out shopping.

The benefits of green tea are getting known more and more. There is still a great deal of research going on, but everybody has this common opinion that green tea offers a lot of benefits for your health! Like most people, I’m becoming more and more concerned about my health now that I’m getting older. I am making a concerted effort to change my lifestyle as much as possible in order to try to prevent serious problems in the future.

For example, I follow a sensible low-fat diet, avoid junk food, and have even tried to cut out coffee and carbonated sodas. Of course I needed to find a replacement beverage since coffee and diet Coke were pretty much all I consumed every day. After reading about the benefits of green tea in numerous health studies, the choice was easy.

The benefits of green tea have long been known in Japan, where most of the population partakes of that refreshing beverage. Everyone knows that Japanese people traditionally have some of the highest life expectancy rates on the entire planet, and I personally believe that at least part of that phenomenon has to do with the many health benefits of green tea.

For one thing, it is one of the best natural sources of antioxidants that we have at our disposal. These antioxidants attack so-called “free radicals,” which are harmful compounds that can cause cell damage. In addition, other benefits of green tea include the prevention of such ailments as heart disease, arthritis, dental cavities, different types of cancer, and could even promote weight loss.

While medical experts don’t unanimously agree upon the many benefits of green tea, I’m personally convinced that this is a good way to protect my health. As I mentioned before, I’ve decided to incorporate this beverage into my daily diet as a replacement for coffee and sodas. In order to derive as many health benefits of green tea as I can, I’ve got to maintain a regular supply of the drink in my home.

But I live in a rather remote area and can’t exactly buy this stuff at the corner grocery store. Instead, if I want to enjoy the benefits of green tea, I’ll have to purchase it online. Although that might prove to be a bit inconvenient, my health is definitely worth it.

I’ve already found a good website that sells pure Japanese green tea and am waiting for my first shipment to come in. I’m excited about the prospect of getting all the benefits of green tea and taking control of my health in such a simple way. If you’re concerned about your long-term health, then I recommend that you make the switch too!

5 gallon water bottles come in all shapes and forms. You can even buy metal water bottles! Sounds like something from grandma’s time… Buying 5 gallon water bottle can be hard, not because of the lack of selection, but for quite the opposite reason. If you look at any catalog of water storage tanks, you will see dozens and dozens of different designs, from vertical 5 gallon water bottles to elliptical water storage tanks to whatever.

And not only that, but they come in all kinds of different sizes and materials. How am I supposed to know which model of 5 gallon water bottle is the best when they all look so much the same to me. It is a really difficult choice to have to make, if you ask me.

Honestly, I just wanted to get a 5 gallon water bottle as a safety precaution, but I am thinking of calling it off altogether. You see, I live in an area which is really earthquake prone, and I thought, in case something happened like a natural disaster, it would be one of the best ideas to have an adequate supply of food and water to survive until help comes. I thought that a good, solid 5 gallon water bottle would be the answer.

After all, there is only so far you can get on one Nalgene bottle, and if all of the water were to go out in my neighborhood, I think I would want just a little more to tide me over until the services were restored. A five gallon water bottle seemed like just the right size to have in case of emergency, but now I am not sure. It is just much too hard to have to chose which one is the right one when they all look just about the same to me.

I suppose I should stop worrying about it and just get it over with and pick one 5 gallon water bottle or another. I mean, they should all be just about the same, am I right? But I am not sure if that is true. One of my friends who is an environmentalist told me that the coating leaches off of 5 gallon water bottles and into the water, causing slow poisoning if you get the wrong kind, but she did not seem to be able to tell me which kind was the right kind to be safe. I have also heard that some kinds of metal 5 gallon water bottle can rust when left for two long, and I definitely do not want to see that happen!
